FRUTILLAR, Chile (May 15, 2024) — Lemu, Latin America’s leading Nature Tech company, announced today that it has been officially certified as a B Corporation™ (B Corp), joining a global movement of companies using business as a force for good.
Key Highlights
- Lemu has officially become a Certified B Corporation™, joining a global community of companies meeting the highest standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency.
- The rigorous certification process took several months and assessed every aspect of Lemu’s operations, from governance and worker policies to environmental impact and community engagement.
- Lemu earned an overall B Impact score of 89.8, far exceeding the median score of 50.9 for ordinary businesses.
The certification, awarded by the non-profit organisation B Lab, is known worldwide as one of the most rigorous and comprehensive assessments of a company’s social and environmental impact. Lemu underwent a months-long process of evaluation, measuring its practices across governance, workers, community, environment, and customers.
Based on the B Impact assessment, Lemu earned an overall score of 89.8. By comparison, the median score for ordinary businesses who complete the assessment is 50.9. This independent verification highlights Lemu’s commitment to embedding social and environmental responsibility throughout its operations.
“Earning B Corp certification is more than a badge — it is independent validation that Lemu’s mission is deeply embedded in how we operate every day,” said Leo Prieto, Founder and CEO of Lemu. “From how we treat our team to how we design our products, the process tested our commitment to aligning profit with purpose. I could not be prouder of our team for the work it took to achieve this.”
B Corps are businesses that meet the highest verified standards of social and environmental performance, balancing profit and purpose. The certification is increasingly recognised by investors, customers, and partners as proof of credible, transparent, and accountable impact.
For Lemu, which launched the world’s first biodiversity-focused hyperspectral satellite (Lemu Nge) and the Nature Intelligence platform (Atlas), the certification reinforces its mission: to make nature visible in every decision, closing the Nature Data Gap and funding the protection of Earth’s living systems.
“Nature is the foundation of the global economy, yet too often it is invisible in decision-making,” Prieto added. “As a B Corp, we are showing that business can — and must — be part of the solution to biodiversity loss and climate change.”
