Frutillar, Chile — 10 June 2025 — Lemu, Latin America’s leading Nature Tech company making nature visible in every decision, and Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez (UAI), a not-for-profit higher-education institution recognised for academic excellence and research, have signed a framework collaboration agreement to foster long-term joint work in research and technological innovation.

Under the agreement, Lemu and UAI will promote knowledge exchange and the development of joint projects across scientific, technological, business, and societal domains. The parties will also explore specific opportunities related to satellite data, including the use of data from Lemu Nge—Lemu’s biodiversity-focused hyperspectral satellite—and UAI’s Data Cube Chile platform.

“This agreement reflects a shared conviction: when nature becomes measurable and traceable, better decisions follow—across research, industry, and public outcomes,” said Leo Prieto, Founder and CEO of Lemu.

“At UAI, we believe research creates value when it expands knowledge and translates into practical solutions,” said Francisco Covarrubias Porzio, Rector of Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez. “Working with Lemu strengthens that bridge between scientific capability and real-world impact.”

What the agreement enables

  • Long-term collaboration to develop projects of mutual interest in research and technological innovation.
  • Joint project execution through future specific agreements that define scope, funding, technology transfer, coordination, and dissemination.
  • Responsible data collaboration with clear provisions for confidentiality, privacy, and appropriate safeguards to ensure traceability and protected handling of information.
  • Non-exclusive partnership, allowing both organisations to continue collaborating with additional partners as needed.

Coordination

For day-to-day coordination of activities arising from the agreement, UAI appointed Jonathan Hodge, Executive Director of the Centre for Earth and Space, and Lemu appointed Franco Magni, Remote Sensing Specialist.
