Frutillar, Chile — 10 December 2025 — Lemu, Latin America’s leading Nature Tech company making nature visible in every decision, today announced the signing of a collaboration agreement with the Institute of Ecology and Biodiversity (Instituto de Ecología y Biodiversidad, “IEB”), Chile’s leading research institution dedicated to advancing scientific and technological knowledge in ecology, biodiversity, and the environment.
The agreement establishes a framework for long-term collaboration focused on the definition and study of specific ecosystems, combining IEB’s scientific leadership with Lemu’s Nature Intelligence platform, Atlas. Together, the organisations will explore pathways to strengthen research, education, conservation, and the practical use of biodiversity data—so that more decisions are grounded in ecological reality.
What the collaboration enables
Under the agreement, Lemu and IEB will work together across a set of non-exclusive collaboration areas, including:
- Joint formulation and participation in research and development (R&D) projects
- Scientific writing and dissemination (journals, conferences, seminars, and colloquia)
- Reciprocal exchange of scientific, educational, and research materials
- Joint workshops, courses, and convenings
- Expert interpretation and/or validation by IEB researchers of jointly developed outputs
- Potential integration of IEB databases into Lemu’s current and future platforms, including Atlas
- Joint applications to competitive public and private funding opportunities
The agreement also anticipates the option to establish specific project agreements (“convenios específicos”) that define objectives, scope, timelines, and any applicable conditions for concrete initiatives.
Quotes
“Chile has world-class ecosystems and world-class scientists,” said Dr. Francisco A. Squeo, President of the IEB. “By collaborating with Lemu, we can help ensure that biodiversity knowledge is not only produced, but also applied—supporting better outcomes for ecosystems and people.”
“Nature Intelligence only works if it is scientifically grounded and operationally usable,” said Leo Prieto, Founder and CEO at Lemu. “This agreement with IEB is about building that bridge—bringing research-grade ecology closer to the decisions that shape landscapes, investments, and conservation outcomes.”
