FRUTILLAR, CHILE (April 22, 2025) — Conexión Kimal–Lo Aguirre, the company developing Chile’s largest transmission line, has partnered with Lemu, a nature technology startup that combines satellites, AI, and science, to implement real-time biodiversity monitoring across the project’s territory. The collaboration brings innovation to environmental management and sets a new benchmark for sustainable infrastructure.

Lemu Atlas is a Nature Intelligence platform that combines satellite data, artificial intelligence, and environmental science to map, analyze, and protect ecosystems.

On Earth Day, Conexión Kimal–Lo Aguirre and Lemu announced the start of satellite-based monitoring across the project’s area of influence. This pioneering initiative in Chile integrates AI and environmental science to map, analyse, and ensure the protection of ecosystems.

Lemu’s platform allows the evolution of biodiversity to be tracked at a level of detail that until recently was limited to the scientific community. Now, this capability is being applied to large-scale infrastructure projects with high environmental standards, particularly in monitoring reforestation and ecological restoration measures.

“This alliance reflects the type of innovation we want to drive at Conexión: Chilean technology solutions in service of sustainability. Integrating a tool like Lemu into environmental monitoring allows us to make more informed decisions, optimise resources, and advance toward an energy transition that is efficient, transparent, and evidence-based,” said Carola Venegas, Director of Public Affairs and Environment at Conexión Kimal–Lo Aguirre.

The company hopes its collaboration with Lemu will set a benchmark for other strategic projects supporting climate commitments, enabling them to reduce impact and development time while ensuring effective monitoring of interventions and mitigation measures.

“Conexión is setting a precedent by integrating next-generation environmental technology into a project of this scale. In a world where our entire economy depends on nature, having rigorous data to manage that relationship is no longer optional—it is a business imperative. This collaboration shows how Chile is not only leading in policy, but also in concrete solutions that bring together science, satellites, and AI to protect the living systems that sustain our future,” said Leo Prieto, Founder and CEO of Lemu.

Through Lemu, the project gains a new layer of environmental analysis. It will access 16 key indicators covering biodiversity, carbon, vegetation, climate, risk, and water. These insights will enable detailed monitoring of factors such as endangered species presence, vegetation cover, carbon storage, and water risk management.
