SANTIAGO, CHILE (September 26, 2025) — Lemu showcased the first advances of its partnership with Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) Chile — a pioneering effort to strengthen ecosystem services monitoring through scientific data, satellite observation, and artificial intelligence — at the 1st FSC Latin America Ecosystem Services Summit “Conservar para Impactar”, held on Thursday, September 25 at the Novotel Vitacura Hotel, Santiago, Chile

Key Highlights

  • First advances of the Lemu–FSC Chile collaboration on ecosystem services (ES) monitoring.
  • Showcased at the 1st FSC Latin America Summit on Ecosystem Services, gathering regional leaders across multiple sectors.
  • Integration of science, satellites, and AI into forest certification processes.

The partnership focuses on developing methodologies and indicators to strengthen the evaluation of ecosystem services in FSC-certified forest areas. By combining science, space-based data, and Nature Intelligence, Lemu and FSC Chile aim to support impact verification and sustainable forest management, with a particular focus on the needs of the Global South.

“The new FSC Verified Impact System challenges us in several ways and confirms that building alliances is essential to generate objective data that demonstrate the positive impact of responsible forest management practices on ecosystem services (ES), producing verified impacts,” added Regina Massai, Executive Director of FSC Chile. “In this new partnership with Lemu, we will work to address one of those challenges: monitoring and measuring impacts on ES. We expect the results of this collaboration to become the foundation for scaling positive impact across diverse territories. What cannot be measured cannot be managed — and it is a requirement within FSC standards.”

Through this collaboration, Lemu and FSC reinforce their shared commitment to advancing solutions that balance environmental sustainability, economic development, and social well-being, moving toward a future where biodiversity conservation is a strategic priority across Latin America.

“The world depends on nature, yet we measure very little of what it provides,” said Sebastián Eyzaguirre, Co-Founder and COO of Lemu. “Our collaboration with FSC Chile shows how science and technology can make ecosystem services more visible, providing reliable data that helps companies, governments, and communities make better decisions. With FSC as a global reference, we are advancing in balancing human needs with those of the rest of nature.”

The “Conservar para Impactar” Summit brought together representatives from across Latin America to highlight the importance of conserving and sustainably managing natural capital. Lemu’s participation consolidated its role as a regional reference in biophysical monitoring of ecosystem services using satellite technology, scientific data, and AI — and demonstrated the potential of Atlas, its Nature Intelligence platform, to deliver clear, actionable insights to companies, governments, and communities.

The 1st FSC Latin America Ecosystem Services Summit featured public and private sector experiences from across the region and was streamed live with simultaneous translation into Portuguese and English.
